The Reflection Effect

Apple makes a great deal of use out of the Reflection both on their site and in much of their software.

I recently watched a tutorial on how to achieve this effect in FCP. I tried it and decided to add to what I had learned by making it into an effect I could use at the closing of a video to run credits or just leave a parting message.

While a Pro can certainly achieve this effect with a lot less "hair pulling", I was able to come up with almost what I wanted. But, as you will see from watching the videos, they are not perfect in movement of the video and the reflection. Key framing was certainly a must but I guess I just didn't do quite enough.

I am looking for a plug-in that can help me to achieve this effect with a lot less work on my part. (After all, isn't that what plug-ins are for?)

Noise Industries puts out a piece of software, FXFactory Pro, that uses this effect as both a transition and a filter. It does almost what I am looking for but these two plun-ins are bundled in a piece of software that costs $399.00 US. That is a bit steep for one who does this as a hobby and while it includes many other plug-ins, I just can't justify the money for achieving this effect.

The first two examples, in the Examples sub-menu, to the left, show my efforts and the second one is actually more of what I want to achieve. Ultimately I envision the video coming to an end and within a given amount of time remaining (i.e. 30 secs. or so) The video would shrink back into the Reflection Effect and then move to the left or right at given angle (a 45 degree angle seemed about right) and allow the credits or message to crawl up from the bottom of the frame while playing the video to the end.

I can handle the credits rather easily but need a way for the video to be taken care of just as easily.

Any Thoughts?
